2010 BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo

By brm - Posted on 17 September 2009

What's new about the 2010 BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo? This all-new BMW model is another “four-door coupe” that grafts a fastback roofline to a sedan body. It’s longer and taller than a 5-Series sedan, but does not have elevated ground clearance. It debuts as the rear-wheel-drive 550i Gran Turismo with a 400-horsepower turbocharged V-8 and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Optional all-wheel drive and a six-cylinder model will follow.

Should I Consider it? Yes. Think of it as a rational alternative to BMW’s odd-ball X6 SUV. The Gran Turismo is roomier than the 5-Series station wagon and innovates with the convenience of small trunk door within a large hatchback panel.

2010 BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo Release Date: December 2009

BASE PRICE: $70,000 for the 550i with rear-wheel drive, $72,500 with all-wheel drive.
