New Car Deals for May 2010: Hybrids

Last Updated: Jul 15, 2010

Though gas prices are on the upswing and tighter fuel-economy requirements have prompted automakers to introduce additional gas-electric hybrids, sales are still relatively flat in this segment. The full-size General Motors hybrid pickups and SUVs in particular are seeing hefty cash rebates. Along with the one-time federal income tax credit, these rebates can more than make up for the vehicles’ higher costs compared to non-hybrid counterparts. And even the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Honda Civic Hybrid are seeing sizeable incentives this month, though those models no longer qualify for the government tax credit.
