New Car Deals for January 2012: Crossover SUVs

Last Updated: Jan 8, 2012

Deals remain plentiful on the larger crossover SUVs this month. Compact models seem to be selling well enough that automakers don’t feel compelled to slap cash on the hood. The 2012 Acura ZDX, which was among the biggest sales flops for 2011, is the odd duck here, with its fish-shaped styling hampering rear seat access and cargo carrying ability. The 2012 BMW on the list is the diesel-powered version of the X5 crossover. Though diesels have still yet to catch on with U.S. buyers, the X5 35d delivers a winning combination of acceleration and fuel economy. The 2012 Ford Flex is worth a look, though it’s getting a model-year 2013 update with a stronger standard engine and (for better or worse) the automaker’s perplexing MyFord Touch multimedia operating system.
